Universiti Malaya (UM) graduate Wong Yan Ke collected his graduation certificate from the university today, which had been delayed for two days.<br /><br />With him today was his legal representative Asheeq Ali Sethi Alvi, who branded UM “liars” for saying it had not withheld his client’s certificate.<br /><br />Wong claimed UM withheld his academic transcript following his protest during the varsity’s graduation ceremony. This was denied by the university’s board of directors chairperson Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen Tengku Ibrahim.<br /><br />Last weekend, Wong, upon receiving his scroll, proceeded to yell “Tolak rasis. Undur VC. Ini Tanah Malaysia (Reject racist. VC withdraw. This is Tanah Malaysia)” while holding up a placard which listed several reasons why vice-chancellor Abdul Rahim Hashim should resign.
