Pres. Moon asks religious groups to play bigger role in integrating society

President Moon Jae-in says that despite efforts to unify Korean society in the past two years,... there has been a lack of notable improvement.<br />A luncheon was held at the Blue House today, gathering the heads of seven major religious groups in the country.<br />President Moon discussed the conflict over reforming the prosecution and the establishment of a special unit for investigating corruption by high-ranking officials,... and he emphasized the need for religious leaders to act.<br />Here's what he said.<br />"I would like to make this request once again. The government, including myself, needs to do more to achieve integration and harmony among the people, but I would like to say that religious leaders also need to play a greater role."<br />The president asked for religious groups to do more to encourage healthy debates over how to achieve fairness,... which he says the people strongly demand.<br />President Moon also sought their wisdom in handling the difficult economic situation... and the lack of progress being made in inter-Korean relations, due to the deadlock in nuclear talks between North Korea and the U.S.<br />
