Leopard trapped in barbed wire rescued after marathon operation in west India

A leopard stuck in barbed wire for several hours was finally rescued by a team of volunteers and forest department officials in western India's Maharashtra state.<br /><br />The incident took place on October 20 near Ozar town in Nashik district.<br /><br />Visual shows the injured leopard snarling while trying to get out of the wire, however, it was unable to do so.<br /><br />After tranquillising it, rescuers, with the help of a snare, towels and safety nets, proceeded with their mission.<br /><br />A wire cutter was used to cut through the barbed wire and once it was removed, the leopard was carefully pulled out and placed in a metal cage.<br /><br />After making sure the leopard was safely kept inside the cage, the shutter was pulled down.<br /><br />Reports said the leopard was trapped after it tried to sneak through the hole on a boundary wall guarded by barbed wires.<br /><br />Once stuck, the aggressive leopard tried to get itself out and bit the wires in the process.<br /><br />It remained stuck for at least seven hours before help arrived.<br /><br />Reports said the leopard was under observation of government veterinary doctors for 38 hours before it was released back into the wild.
