A man released a 26kg Chinese softshell turtle after he spent more than £600 to buy it from a market in southeast China.<br /><br />In the video, filmed in the city of Nanchang in Jiangxi Province on October 18, the softshell turtle was put in a bag and placed in a red basin.<br /><br />According to the vendor, the Chinese softshell turtle was wild. Xiong's wife said: "We bought it for releasing it back to the wild. It is a pity to eat it because it is not easy for the softshell turtle to grow that big."<br /><br />After Mr Xiong bought the softshell turtle, he can be seen opening the bag to release it near a river and the turtle crawls back into the sea.
