Chicago Cubs Hire <br />David Ross as New Manager.<br />Ross will replace Joe Maddon, who is now <br />the manager of the Los Angeles Angels.<br />According to ESPN, Ross beat <br />at least five other candidates <br />for the job.<br />It will be the first time he steps <br />into a head managerial role.<br />The former catcher retired at the end of the <br />2016 season after a 15-year career in the majors.<br />He spent his last two years in the league as a member of the Cubs.<br />Ross was part of Chicago's championship team in 2016 and hit a home run in the deciding Game 7.<br />I've always looked at Rossy as a coach when he played here. From the very get-go, I felt like this guy will be a <br />manager someday, Kris Bryant, via ESPN.<br />The World Series title was<br />the second for Ross, who also <br />won in 2013 with the Red Sox.<br />Since his retirement, Ross has worked with Chicago as a special assistant to baseball operations.<br />He also competed in season 24 <br />of 'Dancing With the Stars.'
