S&P 500 hits fresh all-time high, boosted by strong earnings and US, China trade progress

U.S. stocks climbed to a record on Monday as rising optimism for a trade deal with China combined with solid earnings and bets the Federal Reserve will cut rates. <br />The S&P 500 hit a record high as investors cheered strong earnings and progress on U.S.-China trade.<br />The S&P 500 rose point-6 percent to 30-39 closing above 30-28, the record set on July 26th. <br />The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained one half a percent while the Nasdaq Composite climbed one percent.<br /> On the Korean bourse, shares closed higher for the third session Monday as investors cheered the progress in talks between the United States and China over their protracted trade dispute.<br />The benchmark KOSPI added point-3 percent while the tech-heavy KOSDAQ closed flat.<br /> Oil prices fell on Monday, ending their last week's four-session consecutive gains, as the market weighed the supply side of the global crude market.<br />The West Texas Intermediate for December delivery fell 1-point-6 percent to settle at 55 dollars and 77 cents a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.<br />Brent crude for December delivery dropped point-7 percent to close at 61-60 a barrel in London.<br />
