<br />The UK parliament has voted to hold a general election on December 12... backing Prime Minister Boris Johnson's proposal as a way of breaking the Brexit impasse.<br />The election was approved easily on Tuesday in a vote of 438 to 20.<br />Once parliament is dissolved next week, the parties will start their campaigns, which will be dominated by Brexit.<br />The EU has granted Britain three more months to ratify a deal on leaving the bloc, meaning lawmakers in the next parliament will have until January 31st to do so.<br />Boris Johnson will be looking to strengthen his mandate to do Brexit the way he wants.<br />
