A private ceremony is being held at a cathedral in Busan for the mother of President Moon Jae-in, Kang Han-ok,... who died yesterday of a chronic illness.<br />President Moon asked that officials not attend, and of those who did were stopped by presidential security guards.<br />But the President has been making exceptions for diplomats.<br />A surprise visit was made by the ambassador of Japan, Nagamine Yasumasa, whose country is in a deepening row with South Korea over trade and historical issues.<br />Also paying their repects were ambassadors of the U.S., China and Russia.<br />They each spoke with the President for about five minutes.<br />The leaders of opposition political parties were also let in.<br />Most party leaders went earlier today, while the main opposition Liberty Korea Party chair, Hwang Kyo-ahn, will go later this evening.<br />Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon is also expected to attend the funeral, which ends tomorrow.<br />
