At least 42 corpses were retrieved from the mud and rubble after a landslide in Bafoussam, western Cameroon, the Territorial Administration Minister Paul Atanga Nji confirmed.<br /><br />Among the victims were four pregnant women who perished in the incident. <br /><br />The landslide occurred on Monday (October 28) at about 10 pm local time, the country's Housing Minister said. <br /><br />It took almost 24 hours for the victims to be retrieved.<br /><br />Children, including those who fled the conflict in the North West and South West regions, were also among the deaths.<br /><br />An interministerial fact-finding mission has been launched and survivors, as well as the families of the deceased according to the government, will be taken care of during their entire treatment. <br /><br />The government is considering following up on the strict implementation of urbanization laws. <br /><br />Cameroon's president Paul Biya has sent his condolences to the families.
