The Korean police have introduced a new vehicle joining its ground fleet, and the first of its kind being implemented in the country, a full electric bus powered by hydrogen.
The eco-bus was unveiled at the test-driving event in central Seoul on Thursday. Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon, who suggested to change last year, was among the VIP guests attending the event.
Manufactured by the country's top automaker Hyundai Motor, the hydrogen electric bus paves the way for other zero-emission vehicles to be implemented in other government branches.
The police will first operate two hydrogen units until the entire diesel-operated fleet is replaced by 2028.
