U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated his Special Representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, to become his next deputy secretary of state.<br />If he passes his confirmation hearing,… Biegun will take over from John Sullivan, who has been tapped to be the next U.S. ambassador to Russia.<br />However, Trump said Biegun will retain a key responsibility for diplomacy with North Korea, even if he is confirmed to his new role.<br />Biegun became Washington's point-man on North Korea in 2018 to lead efforts to negotiate the regime's denuclearization.<br />
