Iran Announces Nuclear Deal <br />Violations 40 Years After Hostage Crisis.<br />The Middle East nation <br />announced that it will double the <br />number of advanced centrifuges <br />used to enrich uranium. .<br />Using such centrifuges will allow the <br />country to enrich uranium 10 times faster <br />than is allowed under the 2015 nuclear <br />agreement made between Iran and other nations.<br />Made by the head of Iran's <br />nuclear program, the announcement <br />came on the 40th anniversary <br />of the 1979 hostage crisis.<br />During the crisis, 52 Americans were <br />held hostage in the U.S. embassy in Tehran. <br />The embassy was overtaken in retaliation <br />for CIA involvement in Iran's 1953 coup.<br />Made up of citizens and diplomats, <br />the hostages were held for over a year.<br />President Donald Trump <br />withdrew the U.S. from the nuclear <br />plan in 2018, followed by significant <br />economic sanctions against Iran.<br />Negotiated in part between <br />the Obama administration and Iran, <br />the intention of the deal was to limit <br />Iran's nuclear missile capabilities
