This is the spectacular moment heavy rain caused a waterfall to overflow with raging torrents of water.

Severe downpours hit the Doi Inthanon mountain in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand on Monday (November 4).

Flash floods swamped the mountain streams and waterfalls in the Huay Mae Klang district.

The national park chief officer Kritsiam Kongtri said that despite the spectacular burst of water, it returned to normal within a couple of hours.

He said: "There was heavy rain pouring down all morning, which increased the water volume in the mountain streams. This then overflowed and lead to flash floods.

''Waterfalls will be affected most from the muddy water that runs down from the top of the mountains, but the situation returns to normal after a few hours.

"Officers take all necessary precautions to ensure that any tourists caught in the floods are safe.''
