Andy Beshear Unseats<br />Matt Bevin as Kentucky Governor On Nov. 5, Democrat Andy Beshear declared<br />victory in Kentucky’s governor race, with<br />precincts reporting 49.2 percent in his favor. Beshear reportedly had a total of<br />709,577 votes, which is roughly<br />5,000 more than the Republican<br />incumbent, Matt Bevin. According to Vox, Beshear’s victory is<br />attributed to his focus on statewide issues<br />such as education and Medicaid protection. His win in the highly conservative<br />state is of particular significance as<br />Donald Trump previously won the<br />state by 30 points in the 2016 election.
