After scrapping a highly-anticipated summit of world leaders last week as the country struggles with anti-government protests, Chile is now reportedly discussing with the U.S. to co-host the APEC summit in the United States in January.<br />Reuters reports that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been telling other diplomats that the United States was thinking of hosting the summit.<br />Chile cancelled the APEC summit that was originally scheduled for November 16 and 17 because of the violent protests.<br />If it can't be re-arranged, Malaysia is set to host the next APEC summit, scheduled for the end of 2020.<br />
