A tiger that fell into a river on November 6 and got stuck in some rocks in western India tragically succumbed to its injuries almost 24 hours later after several failed rescue attempts. <br /><br />The incident took place on November 6 in Bhadravati Tehsil in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra.<br /><br />Visuals show the stuck tiger looking helplessly as local people film it from a distance after news broke out of its presence.<br /><br />The big predator was then filmed later trying to latch onto a metal cage that was lowered by forest department officials in an effort to rescue it.<br /><br />However, the tiger not only failed to get out, but it also hurt its jaw in the process, with footage showing the tiger bleeding from its mouth.<br /><br />The rescue mission, which lasted for nearly 12 hours, was halted as light faded. The tiger perished soon after. <br /><br />Footage shot on November 7 show forest department officials retrieving the tiger's body out of the river and taking it towards a vehicle.<br /><br />They can be seen moving the body onto a stretcher, after which they cover it with a net and carry it towards the vehicle.<br /><br />It was placed on the back of a mini truck and moved to another location.<br /><br />Initial reports had mistakenly claimed that the tiger had been successfully rescued by the forest department on November 6.<br /><br />Chandrapur Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Rama Rao had stated that they had tried various methods to coax the tiger out but failed, and the animal had died.
