Former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah maintained that his client was a victim of a conspiracy led by Low Taek Jho or Jho Low after the U.S. Justice Department struck a deal with the fugitive financier to recoup almost US$1bil (RM4.18bil) of money looted from 1MDB.<br /><br />The lawyer spoke to reporters on Monday after the High Court ordered Najib to enter his defence for seven charges involving the misappropriation of RM42mil in SRC International funds.
