Supreme Court Rules Sandy Hook <br />Families Can Sue Remington .<br />Remington Arms is the maker of the assault rifle <br />that was used by Adam Lanza to kill 26 people <br />at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.<br />On Tuesday, the Supreme Court said <br />that one survivor and relatives of nine victims <br />can move forward with suing the arms company.<br />The lawsuit states that Remington <br />should never have sold such an <br />assault rifle to the public.<br />"The families are grateful that the Supreme Court <br />upheld precedent and denied Remington's latest <br />attempt to avoid accountability." <br />- Joshua Koskoff, Sandy Hook families' lawyer.<br />The lawsuit is considered an <br />exemption of the 2005 federal law, the <br />Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act.<br />The federal law has often been <br />criticized by gun control advocates.<br />The current ruling could potentially open <br />the doors for victims of other mass shootings <br />to hold the makers of firearms accountable
