Elijah Cummings' Widow <br />Maya Rockeymoore Cummings<br />to Seek His Congressional Seat.<br />Talking with 'The Baltimore Sun,' the 48-year-old says she believes her <br />late husband would have wanted her to run.<br />"We fought alongside of each other for a very long time, and now I'm looking to continue <br />to fight."<br />- Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, <br />via 'The Baltimore Sun'.<br />Elijah Cummings served Maryland's <br />seventh district for over two decades <br />before dying last month at the age of 68.<br />A special election for the seat <br />will now be held in April 2020.<br />Rockeymoore Cummings adds that she <br />and Elijah had talked about her running <br />for the seat before he died.<br />"He was conflicted about whether he should resign or stay in office. We thought there might be a turnaround.
