After finishing second in the Cy Young award and becoming the first Asian to receive a first-place vote,... South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin is now back home.<br />He said his good physical condition was behind his successful season.<br />Yoon Jung-min has the details.<br />South Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin returned home on Thursday after coming second in the voting for the National League Cy Young Award.<br />Upon arrival in Korea, Ryu told reporters how he felt about the award and his season this year.<br />"All in all, I believe I had a good season. I was planning to play 30 games as a starting pitcher, I did play in 29 games thanks to being in good condition. The results were good because I was healthy enough."<br />Ryu, who is now a free agent, added he plans to take a rest for while at home,... but will keep up his fitness levels.<br />In the voting results announced by the Baseball Writers Association of America on Wednesday,… Ryu received one first-place vote, ten second-place votes …and eight third-place votes for a total of 88 points.<br />Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets won the Cy Young Award for the second straight season, …getting 29 first-place votes and 207 points in total.<br />Ryu is the first South Korean pitcher to earn a Cy Young vote …and the first Asian to get a first-place vote.<br />He had a great season at the LA Dodgers,... with a 2-point-32 ERA in about 182 innings.<br />For the American League Cy Young Award, Houston Astro's pitcher Justin Verlander won the award for this year,... winning his second award in 8 years.<br />Yoon Jung-min, Arirang News.<br />
