Rail services between Srinagar and Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir have been formally re-opened to the public.<br /><br />They were shut on 7 August, when the Indian government removed Jammu and Kashmir's special constitutional status.<br /><br />Fearing resistance to that decision, the government cut off many transport and communications links, which have only gradually been restored since.
