One-eyed wild elephant goes on half-hour rampage before disappearing into Indian jungle

A one-eyed wild elephant rampaged through a town in east India, forcing people to flee or risk being trampled. <br /><br />The incident took place on November 17 in Madarihat town of Alipurduar district of West Bengal, but fortunately there were no injuries reported.<br /><br />Video shows the wild tusker strolling through the streets of the town as residents run away to steer clear of its path.<br /><br />According to reports, the locals have named the elephant "Ekchokha" (the one-eyed) as it is blind in one eye.<br /><br />The elephant entered the town and destroyed a food stall, an auto-rickshaw, a car and an ambulance before leaving for the forest after half an hour.<br /><br />Forest department officials reached the scene afterwards and tried to direct the elephant deeper back into the wild.
