Sweden Drops <br />Julian Assange Rape Investigation.<br />Swedish authorities announced <br />the end to their inquiry into the <br />Wikileaks founder on Tuesday.<br />The evidence is not strong enough <br />to form the basis of an indictment, Eva-Marie Persson, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, via 'The New York Times'.<br />In such a situation, the preliminary <br />investigation should be <br />discontinued, and that is <br />what has happened, Eva-Marie Persson, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, via 'The New York Times'.<br />The assault accusations of two women <br />prompted the investigation, which began in 2010.<br />Persson confirmed the credibility <br />of the accuser's accusations but <br />stated that the "evidential situation <br />has been weakened.".<br />When a warrant was issued for Assange's arrest, <br />he claimed asylum in the Ecuadorian Embassy <br />in London.
