Homes flooded by tropical storm Fung-wong in the Philippines

Footage shows flooding caused by tropical storm Fung-wong and typhoon Kalmaegi in the Philippines on Thursday (November 21).<br /><br />The storms dumped a huge amount of rain over the country, which has resulted in severe flooding.<br /><br />Typhoon Kalmaegi brought heavy rain and flooding earlier in the week which was followed by downpours from storm Sarah, which was upgraded and given the international name tropical storm Fung-wong.<br /><br />Footage from the Simpatuyo Elementary School in Cagayan shows house, farmlands and barns submerged in overflowing river rapids.<br /><br />Typhoon Kalmaegi made landfall on Wednesday (November 20) in Cagayan while tropical storm Fung-wong continues to batter the northern Luzon area after entering the country on the same day.<br /><br />Kalmaegi has displaced 2,678 families in 18 towns of Cagayan. <br /><br />Rogelio Sending Jr., Cagayan acting provincial information officer, said that 7,000 people remained in evacuation centers.<br /><br />With Tropical Storm Fung-wong, evacuees are expected to stay longer in shelters.<br /><br />Ramon, or Kalmaegi, was downgraded from a tropical storm to a tropical depression on Wednesday but Sarah intensified from a tropical depression into a tropical storm.
