He made a lot of attempts at making an airworthy airship until the final model the Bleriot XI was ready. On 25 July 1909 made the English Channel crossing from Calais to Dover. <br />Bleriot was a hero. He won a monetary price but most importantly it launched his aircraft manufacturing company. <br />The Bleriot never flew again as Bleriot +/- crash landed it in Dover. Bleriot himself was unharmed.<br />Bleriot manufactured airplanes for civil and military use. In World War I multiple countries used the planes mainly for intelligence.<br />Bleriot also started an aviation school.
