A man started up his car in east India and was shocked to find a green snake lying on his dashboard, causing him to flee in panic and call snake rescuers to remove it. <br /><br />Prasant Kumar Barala of Satyabadi had parked his SUV near Puri, Odisha, on November 30, when he found the baby snake. <br /><br />He called the Snake Helpline to rescue the reptile, and they sent a volunteer, Susant Behera to help. <br /><br />After looking through every nook and cranny on the vehicle, Behera eventually finding the baby snake hiding under the lining of the passenger footwell. <br /> <br />The snake was luckily just a harmless non-venomous rat snake. <br /><br />Susant rescued the snake and released it at a nearby forest later.<br /><br />Subhendu Mallik founder of Snake Helpline said: "It was a lucky escape as the snake was spotted by the driver when the vehicle had been parked. If the driver had seen it while driving it may have caused an accident.”
