Syrian chefs from a restaurant in Faiyum, Egypt have made an 18-metre-long shawarma which they claim is a new world record.<br /><br />Footage filmed on Friday (December 8) shows restaurant staff preparing the dish outside the venue.<br /><br />The giant shawarma was then cut into pieces and given away for free to members of the public who had gathered to watch.<br /><br />Shawarma is a dish in Middle Eastern cuisine consisting of meat cut into thin slices, stacked in a cone-like shape and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie or spit.
