Roxette Singer Marie Fredriksson<br />Dead at Age 61.<br />Marie Fredriksson died on Dec. 9<br />after a 17-year battle with cancer. .<br />Her management company, Dimberg<br />Jernberg, confirmed her death in a statement,<br />reflecting on her “grand musical legacy.”.<br />Marie leaves us a grand musical legacy.<br />Her amazing voice -- both strong and<br />sensitive -- and her magical live performances<br />will be remembered by all of us who was<br />lucky enough to witness them, Dimberg Jernberg Management, via statement .<br />Born in 1958, Fredriksson first achieved<br />fame as a solo artist in Sweden before<br />forming Roxette with Per Gessle in 1986. .<br />The duo achieved international fame with their<br />single “The Look,” which reached the top spot<br />on the ‘Billboard’ Hot 100 chart in 1989. .<br />Their 1987 single, “It Must Have<br />Been Love,” also became successful<br />in 1990, after being featured on the<br />‘Pretty Woman’ soundtrack.<br />In a statement, Gessle reflected on his<br />40-year friendship with Fredriksson,<br />calling her an “outstanding musician”<br />and a “master of the voice.”.<br /> Thanks for painting my black and white songs<br />in the most beautiful colours.
