Legendary Radio Host Tom Joyner <br />Retires From the Airwaves.<br />The 70-year-old's last airing of <br />'The Tom Joyner Morning Show' was on Friday.<br />The program had an audience of nearly eight million <br />and could be listened to in over 100 markets.<br />It was the top syndicated urban morning show in the U.S.<br />Talking with CBS News, Joyner said he <br />would have stayed on the radio for more money.<br />My goal was to die on the radio. <br />Have my funeral on the radio, Tom Joyner, via CBS News.<br />According to Joyner, his salary had decreased <br />in recent years due to declining results.<br />The radio host's nationally <br />syndicated program started in 1994.<br />Originally, the Tuskegee, Alabama, native says his <br />show was meant to be for African Americans.<br />In terms of what's next, Joyner says he will continue <br />to raise money for historically black colleges.<br />He has helped contribute over $60 million <br />to such institutions throughout his career
