Protesters took the streets of Jakarta and Istanbul on Friday in solidarity with the Uyghur community in China.<br /><br />The United Nations and human rights groups estimate that over one million people, including ethnic Uyghur Muslims, have been detained in harsh conditions in Xinjiang as part of Beijing’s counter-terrorism programme.
