A dirt bike rider suffered concussion, whiplash and bruises after colliding with a buck during a race in Columbus, Texas.

The clip, filmed on November 23, shows the moment of impact when Wesley Gustine slammed into a buck who was attempting to cross the track. Instead the deer leapt straight into the rider knocking him into the grass.

After impact the deer rolls over several times before running off into the countryside.

Fellow rider and filmer Justin Bird explained to Newsflare: "I was in complete shock. What you see in the video is not what I saw in real-time. Essentially all I saw was a brown streak out of the right of my eye just after Wesley had passed me and before I knew it, he had a deer in his chest and he was on the ground.

"He jumped up so quick I knew he couldn't be hurt too bad so my thoughts went straight to 'I can't believe I caught that on camera!'”

"I think the adrenaline kept Wesley from hurting too much that day. Every time I saw him throughout the day at pit stops, section starts, etc. he was smiling and laughing with the other riders."

It is common for deer to be hit in this area. However, according to the filmer, it's rare for dirt bikes to have these accidents because "the loud noise spooks them from a farther distance so they have a better chance of getting away from you before you even know that they're there."
