Local residents continue going in and out of the Philippines' Taal Volcano island to rescue some of the animals that survived the eruption on January 12.<br /><br />Volunteers use boats across the lake to bring horses and other animals to safety.<br /><br />Horseback-riding is a popular attraction in Taal, which is why the island became home to almost 3,000 horses.<br /><br />Local Sonny Rivas said that they are also using this opportunity to check some of their belongings that were left during the mass evacuation.<br /><br />"We salvage whatever we can because we can no longer go back there. It is dangerous."<br /><br />Nearly 44,000 people have fled the danger zone around the volcano, and are now staying at evacuation centers in around Batangas.
