A five-year-old girl survived after being hit by a pick-up truck and flung 20ft down the road.

Nong Bee ran out into the road to follow her dad who had walked to a shop on the opposite side in Chonburi, eastern Thailand last Sunday (January 12).

But a black Isuzu D-max was approaching and knocked her over, sending her skidding along the road before coming to a stop 20ft away.

Driver Khun Wew stopped to check on the youngster and drove her to hospital.

But miraculously, the girl picked herself up and only suffered minor grazes and bruising. Doctors found no broken bones or serious injury.

The girl's father Watchara Pansansao, 26, said he did not expect her daughter to run after him because he just carried her back to the house.

He said: "I planned to buy construction materials across the street and my daughter followed me so I carried her back to the cabin before I went out again.

"Then I did not expect her to follow me again for a second time, because I told her to stay in the cabin, so I crossed the road without looking back.

"I'm thankful for the pickup driver for showing responsibility by stopping and helping but I accept responsibility and should be more careful.''
