Scuffles broke out on Sunday in central Hong Kong as riot police cleared a square of thousands of pro-democracy protesters. <br /><br />Earlier, riot police charged some of the demonstrators and also fired tear gas after two plainclothes officers were assaulted, according to local media<br /><br />The gathering marked the first large-scale protest in a fortnight, a week after Taiwan’s Tsai Ing-wen won a second term in a fresh blow for Beijing.
