Medics on Air China plane check passengers' temperatures in bid to contain new virus

Medics check the temperature of passengers on a plane before letting them off in an attempt to contain a new SARS-like virus sweeping China.<br /><br />Video filmed on Air China flight CA119 from Wuhan to Macau on January 12 shows medics in protective clothing using a thermometer-type device on seated passengers one-by-one.<br /><br />The video was filmed on a plane after it landed at Macau airport. <br /><br />A man surnamed Yang who works for the Macao Health Bureau confirmed over the phone that such checks are taking place in the southern Chinese region, the Associated Press reported.<br /><br />According to reports, more than 200 cases of the Chinese coronavirus have been confirmed, with three dead.<br /><br />The spread of the viral pneumonia comes days before millions of Chinese nationals travel abroad for the Lunar New Year holidays. Experts in China said on Monday that human-to-human transmission has been confirmed.<br /><br />Airports in Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and the US have reportedly stepped up surveillance.
