Surakarta hosted an annual carnival on January 21 for this year's Chinese New Year celebrations.<br /><br />The activities were hosted by the city of Surakarta (known as Solo), central Java, and this is the 13th time the event has been held.<br /><br />The carnival includes traditional lion dance players, traditional cultural dances, piles of food decorated into sculptures such as bridges and government buildings and decorated fruits.<br /><br />This event lasts until the upcoming Chinese New Year on January 25, 2020.
