Injuries and Fatalities Will Rise Due to Climate Change, Study Says The study, conducted by researchers at Columbia and Harvard, can be found in
'Nature Medicine.' Researchers analyzed
U.S. fatalities from injuries over
a 37-year period until 2017. The number of deaths
were then associated with
big temperature swings each month. Because of the temperature swings, authors say an extra 2,135 people
could die annually in the U.S. Besides drownings and falls, the study includes human assaults related
to climate change. Lead author Robbie Parks, via The Verge Researchers add that higher temperatures are linked
to increased aggravation in people. They also point out that hotter climates lead people to consume more alcohol. This may relate to transportation accidents, which
the study says make up many recorded deaths when
the temperatures are not normal.
