Life expectancy in the United States increased for the first time in four years.<br />Officials say the uptick is in part thanks to the number of fatal drug overdoses decreasing recently.<br />Health officials also say that 6 of the 10 leading causes of death declined across the board.<br />Life expectancy in the U.S. in 2018 was 78.7 years, compared to 78.6 years in 2017.<br />CNN reports that the 2018 estimate remains lower than the peak of 78.9 years in 2014.
