Large areas of southeast Australia are bracing themselves for a days-long heatwave.<br />The scorching conditions threaten to stoke bushfires that have been burning in the region for months.<br />New South Wales has been one of the hardest hit by bushfires, which started earlier than usual in September.<br />The blazes have burnt out more than 11.7 million hectares across Australia’s most populous states.
