A massive fire broke out on an oil pipeline in east India after several thieves accidentally ignited the oil floating on the river surface, while attempting to siphon some fuel. <br /><br />The incident took place on February 1 in Burhi Dihing river in Dibrugarh, Assam.<br /><br />Visuals show smoke billowing into the air as oil burns on the surface of the river, spilled from the pipeline.<br /><br />The thieves were trying to steal oil by cutting the pipeline laid alongside the river.<br /><br />Reports claim the flames have surrounded the area for the past three days and local authorities have not done anything to douse the fire.<br /><br />The pipeline was used to transport crude oil from Duliajan plant of Oil India Limited to the refineries around the area.
