Five passengers had to be rescued when their cable car stalled in mid-air due to a technical issue in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand.<br /><br />The incident took place on February 4 in the "Lake City" of Nainital, a popular hill station.<br /><br />Visuals show the ground management staff of the cable car service rescuing the trapped passengers, evacuating one person at a time using ropes to the valley floor.<br /><br />The stalled cars were returned to the station after the rescue operation was completed.<br /><br />Reports also state that the management did react promptly to the situation and evacuated the tourists within a few hours.<br /><br />The cable car service was launched 35 years ago and was due for a maintenance check.
