Fire-Weary Region of Australia <br />Receiving Needed Heavy Rainfall Torrential rain in New South Wales <br />has helped get rid of long-lasting <br />bushfires in recent days. The fires, which started last September, have killed dozens of people. Blazes have also killed millions of animals and destroyed thousands of buildings. The rain has still caused flooding damage, but the area's Rural Fire Service is welcoming the downpours. @NSWRFS, via Twitter Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology says that 15 inches of rain have hit Sydney. Not since 1990 has the city received this much rain. The Associated Press adds that some other spots have <br />seen their largest amounts of rain in the last half century.
