A truck toppled over after trying to take a sharp bend while being chased by police.<br /><br />The truck carrying construction debris sparked panic after it sped through a police checkpoint in Bangkok, Thailand last Monday (Feb 10) afternoon.<br /><br />Officers asked the driver to stop but he drove away, sparking a chase with several motorcycle outriders.<br /><br />As the truck drove down a bridge, the driver tried to navigate a sharp bend to the left. However, the truck's suspension could not handle the cornering and it toppled over on its side.<br /><br />Officers surrounded the vehicle and dragged the driver out.<br /><br />They said that the driver, Duen Maratcha, 37, was arrested at the scene after confessing he had recently taken two amphetamine pills to ''stay awake'' on the roads.<br /><br />Police also found opium left in the truck and he was taken into custody.<br /><br />Passing motorist Nattapol Phruekngern said the truck tipped over after being chased for around three miles.<br /><br />Nattapol said he followed the pursuit and filmed it because he wanted to help the officers catch the driver.<br /><br />He said: "I followed them because I thought I could assist the police with arresting the suspicious driver. It was hard to believe that he tried to run away from the police."
