Safari goers in Yala National Park were left baffled when an elephant nearly plunged into their jeep looking for food.<br /><br />In the video, the curious elephant can be seen thrusting its head through the vehicle window as the tourists started panicking. <br /><br />Soon the elephant seized bits of food and hauled them out of the vehicle with its trunk.<br /><br />As the dismayed driver tried to speed away, the elephant proceeded to charge another vehicle parked behind it.<br /><br />The elephant was an Asian elephant, which is the continent’s largest mammals.<br /><br />An average male is nine-foot-tall and can weigh as much as five tons.<br /><br />The Sri Lankan elephant is an endangered species protected under the Sri Lankan law, with an estimated population of just 3,000.<br /><br />At the end of the video, the elephant can be seen gazing right into the person filming the incident.
