An Indian innovator has designed a gun attachment for Apple's iPhone 4 model which allows the holder to fire it with the press of a button.

Shyam Kumar created this attachment to improve women's safety and reduce harassment towards females.

"This will not only help against rising incidents of rape and eve-teasing but will also matriculate India among one of the countries to have gifted the world with a boon," said Kumar.

The entire gun consists of a 3-inch barrel jacked on the 3.5mm earphone port of the mobile phone.

The entire gun receives a response from the command of the customised software which when pressed not only fires shots but also rings up the Emergency Helpline.

It weighs less than 50 grams, has two triggers, two 3.7-volt batteries which last around three hours.

Currently, the gun attachment contains shots filled with chilli powder and some secret chemicals which, when shot at the culprit, causes an irritation in the skin.

Kumar added: "I am working on designing it in a more sophisticated way and also have written to the Indian prime minister to help me build a powerful anti-eve-teasing gun with real bullets which will help the women across the world.

"I am also planning a pet project of building a machine gun that will further the development and help our Indian army fight wars remotely over the internet and also provide the growth of the nation."

It has taken Kumar around four months to design this project at the expense of merely INR 150 (1.5 GBP).
