Anti-government protests in the Colombian capital turned violent on Friday (February 21st) as hundreds of young demonstrators clashed with riot police.<br /><br />Footage showed around 300 protesters hurling rocks and Molotov cocktails at police in the area close to the University of Bogota. <br /><br />Police responded with tear gas, water cannon and baton charges.<br /><br />Local media reported that three police officers and five members of the public were injured in the clashes.<br /><br />There were no official figures on the numbers of arrests but police were seen detaining several protesters.
