Baboons escape from research facility at Busy Sydney hospital

Chaos at one of Sydney's busiest hospitals as three 'psychotic' BABOONS escape a research centre and run riot around the wards<br />A group of three baboons are on the loose at one of Sydney's busiest hospitals.<br /><br />Animal handlers are currently on the scene with police at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital at Camperdown in Sydney's inner west.<br /><br />The three male baboons have been contained to the car park at the hospital after escaping through a truck door when they were being transported to a research centre. <br />Health Minister Brad Hazzard told The Daily Telegraph: 'There are three baboons who were being transported from their normal colony and the first advice is that there was a failure in the door of the truck.<br /><br />'They’re baboons as part of the colony that’s been around for about 20 years and they are involved in research, I understand they’re extremely well cared for.' <br /><br />Dramatic pictures captured the primates wandering on Missenden Road.<br />A woman told 2GB Radio that her daughter, who is an occupational therapist at Royal Prince Alfred, had helped to wrangle the baboons. <br /><br />'She texted me, "Mum, they were psychotic",' she said.<br /><br />The baboons were being transported to a research facility at Royal Prince Alfred. <br /><br />A NSW Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the baboons have been contained and police are working with experts to move them to their facility.<br /><br />The spokesperson said there was no immediate danger to the public. <br /><br />Baboons have been used in scientific experiments at the hospital in the past. <br />
