Ten students riding an overloaded auto-rickshaw on their way to an exam miraculously survived after their vehicle crashed and flipped over in northern India.<br /><br />The incident took place in Ludhiana, Punjab state, on March 3 as eyewitnesses said a scooterist moving ahead of the tuk tuk suddenly took a sharp turn, causing the tuk-tuk driver Varinder Kumar, 26, to lose control and crash.<br /><br />Hearing the cries of the trapped children, passersby rushed to lift the auto-rickshaw and pull them out. Police arrived and shifted the children to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).<br /><br />Fortunately no fatalities were reported, though doctors claimed a boy and a girl had suffered a fractured leg and a fractured arm respectively. The other children had sustained just minor injuries.<br /><br />The police have arrested Varinder Kumar and booked him and Roshan Lal, 62, who was riding the scooter, for rash driving and endangering life of others.<br /><br />Police said the students were Class 8 students at SMD Convent School, Laxmi Nagar.
