A carpenter was rescued after slipping on metal railings and being impaled through his crotch.<br /><br />Arkom Ong-iam, 56, was preparing scaffolding to paint a house in Samut Prakam, central Thailand on Tuesday (March 3) morning.<br /><br />But while balancing on a wall next to the driveway, he lost his footing and landed on the green iron railings below. <br /><br />Arkom howled in agony as his workmates rushed to help him. The metal point had torn through the carpenter's jeans and stuck into his groin.<br /><br />Footage shows the rescue team using the steel cutting machine to cut off a length of the fence to free the unfortunate carpenter.<br /><br />They spent 10 minutes before they could removethe spike that Arkom was stuck on. He was thenrushed to the hospital where surgeons began removing it from his groin. <br /><br />The doctor said the railing had missed his testicles and man part by only a few millimetres. Instead, it had gone up into his intestines.<br /><br />One of the carpenters said that his friend was slipped while preparing to start work. <br /><br />Arkom's colleague, Nattawat,said: "We were hired to paint the house and were about to start working. We had to get the scaffolding ready.<br /><br />"He climbed along the wall but stepped in the wrong place. He fell down onto the railings and screamed. It was quite unpleasant for us to see.''
