In treating Type 1, or 'juvenile onset' diabetes, insulin and blood sugar monitoring are key.<br />However, a new study has found that a stable and nurturing home environment also may help long-term health in those with the disease.<br />According to UPI, researchers noted that Type 1 diabetics were more likely to 'flourish' as adults if they came from loving homes.<br />They found that participants' with the highest flourishing scores were those who had the highest levels of family connection during childhood.<br />Those with the lowest scores -- or those adults struggling mentally and physically -- were in the lower family connection group.<br />Type 1 diabetes is typically diagnosed in childhood and affects nearly 4 million Americans.
